The Carp Shop party last night was unbelievable. Unfortunately for you (and maybe me too), we weren’t allowed to take pictures. It’s just a policy they’ve kinda always had up there to keep things that shouldn’t be photographed from being photographed. It’s not a bad idea, really, and it’s fun to not even THINK about a camera for a while.
Anyhoo, the party was OFF THE HOOK! The ping-pong, the ring/hook game, the dancing, the deck drenched in midnight sun, the amazing steel-guitar of Danny the Carp, the amazing spinnage of DJamesway (my fellow bandmate, James), the intense love I felt all around me… oh, and did I mention the fucking badass dance party that wouldn’t quit?
And on top of all that, the Carp Shop is like the coolest party house in the world. You know how movies that are set in High School or College have scenes from these ridiculous parties, and you’re like, “Oh boy, parties aren’t really like that.” Well, parties really are like that at the Carp Shop.
It was the party I’ve been waiting for all season.
At one point I was dancing with Zephyr and Amy (my MMI neighbors) and Zephyr said, “You are so loved, Eli.” I knew exactly what was coming, but I didn’t say anything. “Everybody loves you.” She said it with such sincerity. I wanted to let her in on the story, but it didn’t seem right at the time. Just as I thought it had passed, she slipped one by me, “…and you know it.”
NOOOOOOO!!
I stepped back for a minute and braced myself on the work bench behind me. Really? And I know it? How should I take that exactly? Unfortunately, I couldn’t help but flash back to a few weeks ago when someone clued me in on the fact that “some people think that I think that I’m hot shit.”
Is this the same thing? Does “knowing that everybody loves you” have anything to do with thinking you’re hot shit? I’m just doing my best to have fun while doing everything I can to make sure that the people around me are having fun too. If somehow that gives people the wrong impression then there’s nothing I can do about it. It still sorta gets to me little though.
I know that Zephyr has the best of intentions and I’m not actually worried about this, it’s just something that’s on my mind.
