Just one of those nights

Prom at the BFC

Meet Beau. More about him in a minute…

Tonight was one of those nights when I truly realize where I am and what I’m doing. The people were just right, the food was just right, the weather was just right, the mood was just right. The only problem was that I (we) had to say goodbye to our friend up there.

Beau is young, but mature for his age. He’s very happy, but calm. He seems to be a certain type of person, but he will surprise you.

He’s leaving right in the middle of the season because he doesn’t actually work for Raytheon. He works as a rigger for CSBF, a branch of NASA that travels all over the world (Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Sweden) setting up balloons that carry scientific equipment into the upper upper atmosphere. He’s going to Sweden in April and then he’s coming back to the ice next summer season. Who knows where else he could go between now and then?

Goodbye Beau, we’ll miss you.
