answering machine poem
by Eli
the other day at work i told someone on the phone some incorrect information. it wasn’t a super big deal, but the end result of the call would have been very different if i would have given the correct info. i called my supervisor and explained what’s up, and he said that i could call the guy back and try to continue the call.
when i called back, no one answered and instead i heard a young child (~10 years old) recite this poem as the answering machine message:
summer’s here, it’s time to cheer,
it’s time for camping and ice cold beer.
sorry we didn’t hear the phone ringing,
the noise was so loud, the birds were singing.
leave us a message, a rhyme, or a tune,
and we’ll get back to you real, real soon.
i didn’t hear the whole message the first time through, and i also didn’t leave a message, so i called back to leave a message explaining the misinformation i gave. it was this second time through that i wrote down the message. it’s not super funny all by itself, so try to imagine a 10 year old voice reciting it with confidence.
That’s awesome.
