three day weekend storm
by Eli
my 2 day weekend turned into a 3 day weekend this morning when brandon and i arrived at the NOA Redmond Campus to find it without power. sure, there was some bad weather here on thursday night, but it’s freaking saturday morning for crying out loud. how long does it take to get the power back on? apparently, there hasn’t been any power for most of the east side of lake washington since the storm on thursday night.
it wasn’t just nintendo of america, however, that was without power. the hotbox was also powerless for about 18 hours from late thursday night to late friday afternoon. it was pretty cool if you ask me.
the storm started to kick in thursday evening just as britt, mere, hannah, and i got to capitol hill around 5pm. i dropped the girls off on broadway and went to the dentist to pay a bill. when i left the dentist it was coming down pretty hard, and by the time i got back to capitol hill (around pike, broadway, and madison) there was seriously about 4 inches of water running down the roads like a freaking river. rivers were intersecting rivers and there were fucking rapids in the intersections.
we made it back to the house alright, and sometime around 10pm the power went out. it flickred (get it?) a few times and then went out for good. candles were lit and we all merged into hannah’s room and had ourselves a little pow-wow. it was quite a bit of fun.
that was thursday evening. friday was spent doing some xmas shopping and prepping the girls (hna and mere) for their trip home. meredith and i got up at 4am this morning and went to the airport. i got home from that at 5am and went back to sleep for another hour and a half before work. that rolled right into my 3rd day off for this weekend. there’s no news if there will be power tomorrow, so brandon and i might be enjoying a 4 day weekend whether we like it or not.
flickred….hilarious.
