led zeppelin

by Eli

i know that nate is gonna scoff at this and give me a bunch of guff (you can keep your comments to yourself, sir), but i think i’m a fan of led zeppelin. i haven’t ever sat down with their music and listened to much of the non-hits, but overall they seem like a pretty solid rock group. this is probably a pretty big “duh” moment for some of you, but i have good reason:

  1. my parents were into classical, oldies, and blues
  2. my older brother is actively NOT into led zeppelin
  3. as a youngster, i didn’t know anyone else who was into them
  4. i still don’t really know anyone who’s way into them
  5. no one has ever said, “hey, eli, you’d really like led zeppelin.”

so there. anyhoo, i think that i’ve decided that i’d like to expose myself (!) to their music and really give it a go. soooo, to my reader(s) i pose a question:

what is the best way to go about discovering led zeppelin? should i pick up a “best of” or start with a certain album? could i borrow this music from you or am i gonna have to got out and buy the shit?

what do you think (not you, nate)?
