caught in the middle

i saw between the buried and me tonight at the fenix underground as part of the radio rebellion tour. what i saw was pretty good, but obviously btbam was freaking amazing and the best band there.

what i saw of Norma Jean was pretty good too, but as a band they were annoying and obnoxious. they all came out on stage with really dirty clothes and mud all over their faces, and while they played, this really annoying “horror” like video was playing on the screen behind them. it was one of those stupid videos that you’d see in The Ring or The Grudge or some other bullshit like that where there’s a shit load of totally random, out of focus images being displayed quickly and then slowly and then upside down and then backwards and blah blah blah blah. stupid bullshit.

then there’s all the stupid fucking people that go to these kinds of shows. in general there are two types: the fashion metal kids and the violent metal kids. i hate them all.

the fashion metal kids

every single one of them looks the same: the boys look like girls and the girls look like boys; they all have annoying/stupid looking hair; they all have jeans that are tight as shit on their legs, but all weird and saggy right below their ass; they try to make it look like they aren’t trying and their hair/clothes/fashion is just this like thrown together thing, but you should have seen all the boys AND girls in front of the mirrors in the bathrooms.

the positive thing about the fashion metal kids is that they are only visually annoying.

the violent metal kids

i think i hate these kids more than most things in this world. they are macho, selfish, assholes that don’t think of anyone but their stupid fucking “fists of fury” selves. they don’t give a damn that every time they jump into the pit and start throwing their elbows around and then do some stupid fucking roundhouse that 90 percent of the people at the show DON’T like getting kicked/punched in the head. honestly, i sometimes want to slit their throats. i would watch them bleed all over my hands with a smile on my face and say, “now you can’t hurt people any more, you piece of shit.”

i wonder how many people get a show ruined by their acrobatics. i mean, i know that there were many times when i wanted to watch the band and enjoy the music but i couldn’t because i had to protect myself.

tonight was an especially interesting evening because i actually got to see a fight between two of these jackasses. i was in the pit near the back of the room and i turned around just in time to see one guy come across and push some other guy. the pushie came at the pusher and they wrestled around a bit. just as security was coming in to break it up, one of the guys got a full swing punch right in the face and was dropped to the ground. i couldn’t fucking believe it. the guy next to me (one of the few good ones at the show) was cussing at them and like, “i can’t believe that these assholes paid money to come in here and fight.” i couldn’t agree more.

so, this is the middle. i LOVE the music but i hate the fans. i LOVE dancing (oh how do i love dancing), but i hate to get hurt. overall i could easily go to a show if there were only fashion metal kids, they don’t ruin anything for me and they don’t hurt me physically. the violent ones can totally ruin it for me (and a lot of other people as well). what am i to do? start a non-violent union?
