more generalities

this past week has been pretty crazy busy for me. i know what you’re thinking… “busy? but eli, you don’t have a job and little to do other than sit around on your computer all day long.” yeah yeah, i know. but i’ve been crazy busy on my computer. i’ve been hard at work transfering all of the sites off of my server, working on a little something for my dad for his birthday, and uploading photos to flickr. on top of all that, i went ahead and got a new job at Nintendo. and on top of all that, i had to help drop a totally kick ass halloween party last saturday!
so there! i have been busy. now on to the specifics!
andy’s site is coming along just fine. he still hasn’t gotten back to me on transfering his domain over to the new site yet (if you see him, kick him in the ass for me), but once that happens he will be up and running in a whole new world. very exciting if you ask me! brandon’s site is still temporarily down, but that should be worked out by the end of the week. and by the way, NEVER, i repeat, NEVER buy a domain through Yahoo. it is such a fucking joke and a waste of time and money. tomorrow shane and i will updating ListYourList a little bit and then switching that over to his server. i might be doing some administrative stuff to that site in the near future, but overall i’m done with it.
i’ve also been hard at work on a birthday present for my dad that i can’t talk about at length here (in case he reads this for some reason), so that will have to wait for another time. but i’ll have you know, it has been keeping me VERY busy.
i also went in for the final “interview” for my new job at Nintendo. it wasn’t much of an interview because i basically had the job the second i walked in, but i still have to go through the motions. this time around i’ll be doing customer service, which entails answering support related phone calls as well as other administrative tasks. i sat in with a guy today and listened to about 3 of his calls and it seems like it’s gonna be pretty relaxed. they said that they rarely get calls from people that are pissed off, most just people looking for help and we can usually give it to them. that job starts monday, and brandon will be joining me.
something else that has been occupying my time has been my new goal to upload ALL of my 10,000+ photos to flickr. it seems crazy, but i thought that getting those off of my computer would in the meantime cause me to use my computer MORE, but in the long run allow me to use it LESS. see, one of the end goals of this hiatus is to decrease my dependency on computers in general, but to also limit the dependency on MY computer. so, if i can get these photos off of my computer and into a publicly accessible place, then i won’t need to have my own computer to contain them. and on top of all that, if at some point i do get rid of my computer, then all of those photos will be lost to all those people that shared those memories with me. this way i give access to these photos to all of those people as well. it seems like a win win situation to me, AND what else am i going to do this winter? fly kites or something? anyhoo, check out my progress my photos here (as of this writing i have uploaded 1,495).
and finally, the PARTé!! it was really a lot of fun. i was sorta surprised at how well it went and how much fun i had. it really did bring back memories of the manhammer. overall, it was a simple party: 2 kegs, some hard alcohol, and costumes. conrad (my fellow gametester) came out and warmed everyone up with his smooth melodies and ivory keys. there were probably about 25 people there while he was playing, but right at the very end of his set about 30 more people walked in the door all at once. it was hilarious. for about 2 hours the party was really bumpin’ and my favorite moment was a 2 song sing fest with Andrew WK’s “Party Hard” immediately followed by Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” it was amazing! i don’t think i’ve seen so many people encouraging me not to stop believing. maybe i’m just tootin’ my own horn here, but i think people had a great time. i think that it was a kind of fun that they weren’t used to, and i can almost garuantee that they’ll be back for more.
