when i lived in bloomington, i had a van. it was quite the van (15 passengers), and i filled that thing to fucking brim time and time again. it’s one of those things that when you have it, you use it. when you don’t, you don’t. the last real use it got was in helping to move our shit out of the ManHammer. when i say “shit” i mean SHIT: about 4000 pounds to be exact (8 van loads of about 500 pounds each = 4000 lbs = 2 tons).

anyhoo, i sold that van right before i left bloomington, and ever since i haven’t had a car. but old habits die hard, and i still can’t get over the ease of being able to load up whatever i want into the car that i have at my disposal. because of this, meredith’s car (honda accord) has been treated just the same. you could say that it has started to get out of hand, or you couldn’t.

today, me, mere, and hannah moved three couches with her car in 2 trips. the first trip had 2 couches strapped on top of each other tied down to the roof, the second only one. the crazy thing is how well it works. not once in any of these situations, and there have been many, has anything even remotely gone wrong. in fact, it has all gone perfectly. i meant to get a picture of the car with 2 couches on top, but i forgot. it would have really tied this post together.

anyhoo, just keep this in mind the next time you want to move something big and all you’ve got on hand is a 4 door.
