the hospitality club

by Eli

a while back, bookis introduced me to something called the hospitality club. the idea is simple: allow travelers to stay at your house for free and/or stay at other people’s house for free when you travel. the site allows you to profile your house (e.g. accommodations, location, expectations, etc etc) so travelers can try and find a match that fits.

the honeybucket has been on the list for quite some time now, and there have been a few times when some people were going to come but never did. well, this time it’s really happening. reva, jackie, and sam (3 girls) are all staying at our house right now and will be for a few more days. they are going to hang out around here, head down to portland, head back up and generally just “do the scene.” they got in yesterday afternoon, and we all went swimming over at greenlake with brandon and tyler. it was pretty cool.

i know that all of that sounds like the most interesting 2 paragraphs you’ve ever read, but you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. it’s about to get heavy:

these girls found a loop-hole in a Wendy’s promotional give-a-way. the idea was that each Wendy’s cup that you bought gave you a certain number of points and with these points you could buy certain things. so, they started looking all over the place for Wendy’s cups (especially in Wendy’s dumpsters) and got enough to buy themselves 3 round-trip plane tickets to seattle. totally free!

if that’s not one of the coolest things i’ve ever heard of…
