maybe you didn’t notice
by Eli
i’d like to think that there all kinds of people that check this blog and can’t wait to read it each and everyday. but that is simply not true. however, i do think that there were at least a few of you that noticed that my blog was down for most of the day today.
you may be asking the question: eli, why was your blog down for most of the day? the reason being that i am switching hosting companies. i used to host all of my sites and those of my friends and family with webhostingbuzz, but i have since moved away from php programming and toward rails programming. unfortunately webhostingbuzz does not support ruby on rails in a way that fits with me so i decided to switch to rails playground. they offer a pretty great plan that gives me plenty of space and bandwidth and all the other bells and whistles that webhostingbuzz offered, but they also offer ruby on rails support. but it’s not just the fact that they support ruby on rails, but more that it is their main focus and not an after thought. that helps a lot in the rails world.
so, my blog has been propagated along with nate’s and (for now) if you go to elisfanclub.com it just redirects you to my blog. i’m working on getting something else there for the future.
for all of you that have a site or a blog or something on my server, i’ll be contacting you individually sometime in the near future to let you know that i’ll be switching you over to the new server and that you should expect a bit of downtime in the process. your site shouldn’t be down for much longer than a few hours though because i got some practice today.
Hey, I look forward to reading your blog each day…
thanks nate, that’s really sweet of you. i’m glad to hear that i have at least one loyal reader. and also, i’m very excited that i’ve got both of our blogs up and running on the new server. they actually went over with very little fuss.
Like Nate, I, too, read your blog when appropriate. And what is the reward for my loyalty, diligence, and dedication? Why, it’s another blog about the technical composition of your blog! Simply riveting! Since I seem to comprise a hefty 50% of your readership (some would argue that entitles me to part ownership, by the way), I think my entertainment needs should be more readily addressed by the reportable events of your life. Keep my enjoyment in mind, not only when writing your blog, but also when doing things that you may one day write about. I’ve already given Andy and his “blog” up for dead, but I won’t give up on you, dammit.
i think i can take that to heart. if you want more about me then i’ll give it to you. it’s just that these were the things that were happening in my life in the computer arena and i guess i think that that fits into my blog somewhere. maybe i’ll hold off on those posts for the ListYourList blog.
Eli, I completely understand that your existence is basically an amalgamation of you and your electronic life force. I can dig it. Just try expressing this fusion more along the lines of cell-shading: reality that has been colorfully enhanced. For more cell-shading, be sure to see “A Scanner Darkly,” starring Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey, Jr., in theaters this summer.
I too check your blog whenever I’m blog-checking. And, what the heck, Drew? Why give up on mine? I just changed it from little short posts to bigger, more prepared ones. Check there right now, doubting thomas.
By the way, before I left for camp I got paid by Ian and Laura for filming the wedding. They gave me 200, so you will get 200, too–as soon as you ask for it. Pretty sweet, eh?
yeah i agree andy, drew’s a jerk about blogs; i mean what blog does he write? you know what i mean? in regards to the wedding: 1) what camp? 2) do i just need to email them and tell them my address or something?
If I pretended to maintain a blog, you two jokers would have a point, but I would only assume the responsibility if I knew I could update, with pictures, once a week. At the present, this does not seem feasible. In lieu of my own forum, however, I will continue to demand perfection from yours, enhancing when I can. In that vein, I’ve got to tell you guys that I went to Portland yesterday with Brandon and Tyler, and it was totally rad. It was a really awesome city, one that I could definitely see living in.
drew. well, i guess we all just need to work a little harder, don’t we. either way, that’s pretty awesome about portland. i’ve been there a few times and it is a very cool place, no doubt.
you haven’t been to portland like we’ve been to portland
oh yeah, well you haven’t been to tiger mountain like i’ve been to tiger mountain. so there.
