hey y’all. i’ve got a quick update here on the situation with going to antarctica. i’m not sure if you knew about this, but sometime in the middle of january meredith and i tried going to a job fair on the UW campus where raytheon would be. i figured that we could go there an talk to a real person and get some real info. well, i blew it, and we were late and we totally missed the whole thing. i was pretty bummed and that’s when i got a hold of that guy who told me to go to the job fair in denver in april.

well, i just found out that there is going to be another job fair here at UW on feb 22nd and 23rd. i have double checked the time and location like 5 times and i’m totally gonna make it this time. totally.

so, that means that if you are serious about this you MUST have your info posted on rayjobs.com by that time. i’m going in to the lions den and i need bait! after this job fair i will try to determine the necessity of going to the one in denver, but my guess is that it won’t be necessary.

also, i have recently learned some more specifics. it turns out that raytheon will be paying for the ENTIRE plane ride there and back: from your home, to “the ice,” and back. AND that includes a stop in new zealand on the way! they also will be paying for most (if not all) of the warm weather gear for the duration of the stay. i don’t know if we get to keep anything, but i was specifically told by doug’s girlfriend NOT bring anything warm and bulky that will take up space.

i get more and more pumped about this everyday!
