Stop 1: Dancing Rabbit
by Eli
yesterday morning meredith and i left on our road trip out west. it was a very emotional thing for meredith and her family and i even got a little tear eyed being there and seeing it. with the car loaded up (we are using the shit out of it), plenty of books on tape, snacks, and mapquest directions, we headed out. end destination being seattle, we are taking our time getting out there and stopping to see friends along the way.
our first stop is dancing rabbit, and that is where i am writing this entry. we arrived last night at about 9:30pm with the overall trip taking us 10 hours (about 4 hours longer than last time). this time we got lost twice, and our directions were exceptionally crappy, so from now on we are definitely using google maps. we are only gonna be here for two nights (1 down, 1 to go) and then we are off to the twin cities to see nate and ingrid.
i woke up around 9am to kids climbing all over me and oatmeal and cranberries for breakfast. mmm. after making a few things out of legos with the kids (rowan, cynder, toren), we visited chad and his animals (gus, boo, and bianca). gus and boo are sheep dogs (hearding dogs) and gus just can’t keep that hearding insinct in check when bianca (the cat) is in the room. it was hilarious.
after lunch i helped jen tear down an old rusty wire fence, and then helped build the fire for this evenings bonfire down by the pond. now we are back at the timberframe (the name of the house we are staying in). tim (the kid’s dad) is making dinner, i’m writing this entry, and meredith and the kids are watching the “when dinosaurs roamed the earth” dvd. we head out tomorrow 9am.
Welcome back. I, for one, am still here. Glad you’re enjoying Dancing Rabbit…but sorry to realize that you probably missed that big pitch-in dinner you were raving about. Duh about google maps! How’s the DVD going? Gotten any work done on the road? Enjoy the road trip, stop by at Mickey D’s to use their wireless and keep your blog up :)
so far i haven’t had any time to mork on the blog on the way, but as far as i can tell, v2.0 (the one that was encoding the last night i was there) finished by morning and now it just needs to be burned. i might work on tower and triplets to see what was up with the minor skipping that was happening, but overall i think that it is done.
i tried to use the wireless at a rest stop at one point but it wasn’t working… but i’ll definitely keep an eye on it. mere and i are at N8′s and a MN update will follow shortly.
